Over ten thousand people are facing various kinds of difficulties including housing,   living and food scarcity in four different townships, and they are also in need of medicine. Most of the refugees are located in Sistway Township, Maung Taw Township, Buthi Tong Township, and Yatae Tong Township.

‘We need more aid because there are many refugees in different areas. It is over ten thousand. We are providing aid in twenty-seven places and there are also other groups helping the refugees. However, that is not enough for   the refugees. We also need medication. Some of the people are injured.’ said a member of central committee of Arakanese Development Party(ADP).

In Danya Watti village, Sistway, the rohingyas are attacking with slingshots and setting fire to the houses. As a result, the locals are having difficulties in living and are exposed to a dangerous situation. ‘They set our houses   on fire and also shot swing-slang so we had to flee to refugee camp. In the camp, we face food scarcity.

Even though the aid comes from the other places, it cannot be enough because the unrest has been lasting for days.’ said Ma Cho Cho Win, a Danya Watti villager.

Although Min Gan village no longer experience such an attack, the locals are moving to Sistway city or nearby monasteries because of lacking enough polices forces. And they are also getting little aid.

‘Right now, Min Gan is quiet again, but there are only a few polices forces and they could not protect us. Many people have gone to more safety places like Sistway city, Shwe Sayti monastery and/or other places.   We are currently in need of food, water, clothing and also medicine.’ said Ko Phyo, a local from Min Gan.

In Maung Taw, Buthi Tong and Yatae Tong, although the cities are not having any unrest, there are some Bangali Rohingyas living in outskirt villages. Therefore, the Arakanese are not feeling safety. In Maung Taw city, the   30  monasteries were flooded with crowds of refugees fledfrom the unrests.

The refugees are about seven thousands and most of them are women and children. ‘According to our studies, there areseven thousands Arakanese taking refuge in the thirty monasteries andthey are also in need of food, clothing and medicine.’ said U Oo HlaSaw the general secretary of ADP. Moreover, the shops in Maung Taw are closed because   of the potential of unrests. Therefore the people arehaving trouble to buy food.

The government also opened six refugee camps near in Maung Taw city and they are housing 4154 refugees currently. We are informed that the government is accepting donation for the refugees. Locals also set up
a temporary group to help the refugees. Donators can contact them via Free Funeral Service Society [Sistway] (043 22 475), U Maung Htun Kyaw (098 500 944), U Than Shwe (098 500 241), U Shwe Htun Aung (098 500
590) and U Aung Kyaw Zan (098 500 450). The government social department is also announcing contacts in newspapers to donate for the refugees.

The amounts of refugees in Maung Taw Township are 557 persons in Aungmyar Bawdi Dhamma religious building, 247 in Alotaw Pyae non-profit school & monastery, 70 in Baho monastery, and 3,000 in four-mile Police   Station (2). Altogether there are 3874 refugees in Maung Taw Township and 4,900 in Sistway Township, 1,300 in Buthi Tong
and 2,000 in Yatae Tong Township, according to surveys conducted by ADP.

Those unrests are originated by the murder case of Ma Thidar Htwe on May 28 and the assassination of 10 Jamar Ah (Rohingyas). The raid ofMyoma Monastery by Bangali Rohingyas on June 8 marks the start of the
Arakanese-Rohingya unrests.
